Privacy Policy

Puffyo New Tab is a Chrome extension that replaces the browser new tab page with a personal workspace for search, shortcuts, daily tasks, notes, and a local companion character.

Data we store

By default, Puffyo New Tab stores the following information locally in your browser:

  • Tasks and notes you create
  • Custom website shortcuts and categories
  • Display preferences such as layout choices
  • Companion position and reduced-animation preference

This information stays on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers in version 1.0.0.

What we do not collect

  • Browsing history
  • Bookmarks
  • Open tabs
  • Passwords or payment information
  • Advertising identifiers for behavioral ads

Search

When you search from the new tab page, Puffyo New Tab uses Chrome's official search API so results are handled by your default Chrome search engine. Puffyo New Tab does not force a specific search provider.

Website icons

Shortcut icons are loaded from the destination website when possible. If that fails, Puffyo New Tab may ask Chrome's built-in favicon service, or request an icon for the site hostname from DuckDuckGo's public icon service. Puffyo New Tab does not use affiliate tracking parameters for these icon requests.

Permissions

  • search ? run searches with your default search engine
  • favicon ? display website icons for shortcuts

How to delete your data

Open Settings in Puffyo New Tab and choose either ?Clear workspace data? or ?Reset all extension data?. You can also remove the extension from chrome://extensions, which deletes its local data.

Future cloud features

Account login and cloud sync are not enabled in version 1.0.0. If those features are added later, we will update this policy and ask for consent before uploading personal data.
